AquaDom, the world's largest cylindrical aquariumPlaced at the lobby of the Radisson SAS Hotel in Berlin, the 25 meters high AquaDom is the largest cylindrical aquarium ever built. Filled with about 900,000 liters of seawater, it contains some 2600 fish of 56 species.

Combined with a vast amount of sandblasted glass, the giant AquaDom gives a transparent-like feeling to the lobby. Guests and visitors are able to travel through the aquarium in a glass-enclosed elevator to reach a sightseeing point and restaurant under the glass roof. Two full-time divers are responsible for the care and feeding of the fish and maintenance of the aquarium.

Stop, Police!German police had to rescue a driver after he moved out of the way to allow a police car with flashing lights to pass, and got stuck in setting concrete.

Hans-Peter Wagner, 62, was driving on the A1 motorway near Ratekau in Northern Germany when he saw police flashing to get past him in his rear view mirror.

He instantly made way and pulled over but went straight into a stretch of road that had just been freshly concreted.

His car was later pulled out of the concrete by traffic cops.

Wagner said: “It looked like a regular road, and I didn’t see it was wet concrete.”

Artificial tornado in German museum to save livestuttgart, Germany (dpa) - An artificial tornado in Germany’s Mercedes-Benz Museum was recognized Monday by the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s tallest man-made twister.

The air swirl, created by air jets in the multi-storeyed gallery of the remarkable spiral building, does no harm. In fact it was installed to save lives if fire ever breaks out.

The museum, devoted to the history of Mercedes-Benz cars and trucks, opened in May 2006 and has been seen so far by 1.3 million tourists in the city of Stuttgart.

Testers from Guinness, a British-based publisher, confirmed the museum’s tornado was 34.43 metres high.
