Placed at the lobby of the Radisson SAS Hotel in Berlin, the 25 meters high AquaDom is the largest cylindrical aquarium ever built. Filled with about 900,000 liters of seawater, it contains some 2600 fish of 56 species.

Combined with a vast amount of sandblasted glass, the giant AquaDom gives a transparent-like feeling to the lobby. Guests and visitors are able to travel through the aquarium in a glass-enclosed elevator to reach a sightseeing point and restaurant under the glass roof. Two full-time divers are responsible for the care and feeding of the fish and maintenance of the aquarium.

スイミングは良いけれど、高飛び込みは良くないようです。

上の写真は、左側が2002年12月17日(米国時間)に『ハッブル宇宙望遠鏡』で撮影された一角獣座の変光星『V838 Monocerotis』の写真で、右側が、同じ写真の上にお馴染みのロゴを重ねたものだ。どっちがどっちか区別できるだろうか？[『いっかくじゅう座V 838』は、2002年に現れた特異新星。2万光年先にあり、太陽の800倍の直径を持つ。取り込む塵によって光反響が起こっている様子という。]

下は、『Wikipedia』にある「V838 Monocerotis」の項目に掲載されている、同じV838 Monの写真だ。これを見ると、上の写真が『Firefox』のロゴにもっと似せるために『Photoshop』で加工されたものだとしても、修正は最小限にとどめられているようだ。下の写真を回転させて向きを変え、修正を加えてキツネの「尾」の周りにガス雲をたなびかせたのかもしれない。

確かに、そう見えないことも無いですね。

The Fang in Vail (Colorado) is a world famous ice pillar that forms on exceptionally cold winters. Then, when the weather drops, these cascades turn into a giant pillar of ice: a 50 meters high column and about 8 meter large at the base.

Climbing these ice waterfalls at Vail can be extremely dangerous. Adrenaline courses through the bodies of climbers as they look, necks craning, to the lofty heights of a frozen waterfall.
