Lewis dives into the icy waterOnly a few seconds in the icy depths would be enough to kill most mere mortals.

But yesterday, protected by nothing more than a pair of Speedo trunks and his extraordinary central heating, Lewis Pugh took the plunge and became the first man to swim at the North Pole.

The 36-year-old Londoner spent almost 19 minutes at minus 1.8C as he front crawled for a full kilometre - more than half a mile in the coldest water a human has ever swum.

ナダル、水面下で練習する

under water I’m a smash hitRafael Nadal has admitted he is nowhere near to matching Wimbledon champion Roger Federer on grass, even though he remains on course to meet the Swiss master in next weekend’s men’s final.

Second seed Nadal hopes to prevent Federer winning his fifth Wimbledon title in a row, and looks the biggest threat to the champion.

But the Spanish superstar, who is seeded to meet Federer in the final, is refusing to talk up his chances of beating him.

Nadal said: “Am I close to Federer now? No, I don’t think I’m close. He has four titles here. He’s the best player in the world and he’s special. I have one final but he’s the best.”

Federer finally loses on grass…sort ofPALMA DE MALLORCA, Balearic Islands (AP) - In the end, Roger Federer’s favourite surface cost him on Wednesday.

Two-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal beat Federer 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (10) in an exhibition match on a half-grass, half-clay court when Federer couldn’t reach Nadal’s forehand as it took an awkward bounce across the green side of the court. “The ball bounced badly and it cost both of us,” Federer said.
