Britain’s oldest bride and groom have tied the knot, with a combined age of 177 between them.

Only a month after meeting, Peggy Clark, 84, and James Mason, 93, married in Paignton, Devon, on Monday.

The devoted couple say it was “love at first sight” after meeting at a day centre and enjoying only three days of seaside dates before James popped the question.

An Australian has beaten the Germans at their own boozy game, smashing the world record for carrying stein glasses full of beer.

Bavarian-born restaurant manager Reinhard Wurtz, who recently became an Australian citizen, broke the record for carrying one-litre steins of beer, when he carried 20 for 40 metres last night.

With each beer-filled stein weighing at least 2.5 kilograms, Mr Wurtz carried 50 kilograms of beer and glass in the record-breaking effort.

The previous record of 16 steins was held by German barmaid Anita Schwartz.

Local fisherman, McPherson ‘Dorson’ Wright recently landed a fish that may be heading into the world record books.

Mr. Wright said that normally one expects ‘big fish to eat down the small fish”, but the hungry little fish broke that rule in a big way.

While fishing in about 1,400 feet of water off the South Coast of Grand Cayman, Mr. Wright’s attention was drawn to an object that was floating on the surface nearby. He motored over to investigate and picked up a dead fish that simply amazed him. It is now also astonishing scientists both here and in the United States.
